Housing Solutions for Indigenous Youth Aging Out of Care Releases Final Road Map
Check out the culmination of this nearly 2 year innovation research project! I personally want to thank HTFC Winnipeg (Zoe, Adam, Tim) for being our legal entity and all of the youth and families affected by child welfare who informed this road map. There are also nearly 100 organizations to thank, and volunteers from many prototyping groups we are indebted to!
If Every Child Mattered
I wrote this poem out of frustration, anger and sadness. Another mass grave was discovered and many people will talk about the tragedy. I continue to believe that if you want to do something productive, support and protect children today.

215
The recent discovery of 215 children’s bodies in an unmarked grave at an Indian Residential school in Kamloops BC people are rightfully horrified at the news. I have been struggling with this and have not been sure what to say - is there anything I could say that I haven’t already shared many times before? Ultimately, I wish for a day where stories of the success and happiness of Indigenous people are more plentiful than the stories of our pain.
The Resiliency Trap
Resiliency is a term used to describe individuals who are tough or have the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. But the way it is often used in academics and media is so problematic that I share my belief that when we only focus on how strong people are, we ignore the many challenges they should never have had to overcome in the first place!

Reading Things
Whether it’s going to the store, going to appointments in person and now during covid it’s figuring out which video/meeting platform, on which device, I have a tendency to “skim over” important details. Maybe it’s because I tend to do many things at one time, thinking I can multi task, because I am excited about many things I think I can extend the hours in a day but I can’t.
Gifts My Brother Gave Me
It is a hard time to process grief, but when I think of the many gifts left behind by one of my relatives, I think this perspective can help us process feelings and work towards the good life our loved ones would have wanted for us.
