We have to stop throwing our hands in the air and saying we don’t know what to do to prevent MMIWG2S. We know what to do. We have 231 Calls For Justice that are waiting to be implemented, with 8 that all Canadians can use to take meaningful action. Let’s get to work.

I've seen immense progress in the past year within many places and people I have strong relationships with. But we need everyone to help if we're gonna make reconciliation and a good life for all a reality. I suggest that we start at the beginning, at call to action #1, do what we can to support parents and bring the children home.

If I could tell the city how to spend $790,000 on Indigenous Relations here is where I would want it spent…. Thank you to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives Manitoba and the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg for your leadership in bringing this year’s alternative municipal budget together!

It is on the rest of us to take these documents and notice one very simple thing: they don’t have recommendations. They have calls to ACTION and calls for JUSTICE. I know that this detail is at the heart of what Indigenous families are asking for.
